Stabilization Time of Running Equivalent Level LAeq for Urban Road Traffic Noise

In urban areas, noise levels can largely vary in space and time due to the great complexity of these environments. The required for fluctuations running equivalent level LAeq be limited within a preset variability range is key issue determining statistically representative sample acoustic environment. goal present study evaluate potential stabilization time, defined as minimum ST after which difference between corresponding continuous sound pressure LAeq,ST LAeq,T referred longer T, including ST, never greater than uncertainty interval ε. For this purpose, dataset road traffic continuously monitored 97 sites city Milan, Italy, considered, providing 268 series 1 s short LAeq,1s, each lasting 24 h. hourly LAeq,1h was determined three intervals ε, namely ±0.5, ±1.0 ±1.5 dB(A). results are promising provide useful hints obtain short-time monitoring environment and, therefore, tool increase low spatial resolution usually achievable by unattended permanent units.
